Soviet writer. He received the Stalin Prize (1949) for his literary accomplishments, and is considered a classic writer of Soviet Socialist Realist literature. His best known work is Цемент / Cement (1925) which portrays the sociological effects of early Communism, especially after the sexes are suddenly decreed equal in the labour force of the local cement factory.
