Armenian poet, activist, and writer known for his articles on the Armenian Genocide and for his lyric poetry. His best-known works include The Songs of Haiduks, To my Motherland, and Abu-Lala Mahari.  He studied at the Kevorkian Seminary and the University of Leipzig and was imprisoned twice, in 1896 and 1908, for his political activities.
