English writer who is best known for Le Morte d'Arthur, perhaps the best-known work of English-language Arthurian literature today.
He was buried under a marble tombstone at Greyfriars, but following the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1538 the tombstone, like much of the building, disappeared due to its value as a building material. The Church itself was destroyed during World War II; the ruins are now a public garden.
